How can I insert a hyperlink in the Comment field of a Jira issue?

This style of hyperlinking works on web url's only.  I need to add a hyperlink for a word document that is saved on my shared drive.  How do i do this?

This does not work.  I have the same formatting as indicated by Ann, but Upon clicking Save when editing a comment or Add when making a new one, it shows [Link Text|URL] instead of an actual hyperlink.

I had link names that contained |(pipe) which caused links to not render as clickable text. Replacing |(pipe) with -(dash) fixed my issue.
