How can I use JIRA 4.3 Services to allow incoming email to automatically create one of five different issuetypes within a single project?

We have an individual project that has 5 issuetypes. This request is to define how to configure a service to parse incoming email to identify which issuetype should be created. We already have a service set up to handle one email address that creates issues for a single issuetype.

Would using folders in the email address inbox work?

We are using JIRA 4.3.4.

Yes, if you have different subolders in your inbox you can define specific issue types per subfolder in the mail handler parameters. It's no problem to specify the same project in different mail handlers. You would have to create 5 mail handlers, one for each subfolder/issue type pair. Usually you would have some mailer rules that move incoming mails to the 5 subfolders depending on some text in subject or mail body.
