How do I migrate users from an internal directory to Active Directory?

I started our JIRA installation with the internal directory and added some users. Later I found out how to configure "Delegated LDAP Authentication" and then "Active Directory Server (read only with local groups)".

Now I have all these configurations ...

I would like to move to AD completely, but I think the existing internal users are already referenced in issues, groups etc.

How can I migrate my users and data?

We have a client project like this in process now .

It is possible - but you need to understand what you are doing, and not just a push button migration. And obviously, getting it right is core.

This is not possible at the moment, and there is already an improvement request being tracked in the link below regarding this demand:
