How to allow only one single user to create a kind of issue type in Jira?

We want only one user to create an issue type in a Jira project. We have JSU plug-in. But I didn't find the way. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Jason,

You can't do this in permissions, the "create issue" permission means "can create an issue of any type in the project".  You can not limit a type to a group or role.

The best you can do is a bit clunky for the users.  They try to create an issue of a type you want to protect, fill in all the fields, click "create" and are told they're not allowed to create it.

To do this:

  • Copy or create a new workflow
  • In the workflow scheme, tell your protected issue type to use the new workflow
  • Edit the new one, going into the "create" transition
  • Add a validator to the transition, one that checks the user (or group or role) and returns a "no" if they do not match the rules

I am pretty sure you can make that validator with JSU (I have not checked, I'm wedded to Scriptrunner for obvious reasons)

you should check the permission scheme rights for that project. Go to project settings, permissions and click edit. There is a right that is called Create issues> Specify the roles you would like to include. Let me know if you were able to do this, or if you need more help
