We're going to be closing our account, and would like to keep the projects we currently have for reference (reference ONLY) later on.

I found one solution, however it requires having a JIRA account to actually be able to look at the archive, which obviously is useless since we're closing our account.

Any other solutions?

You can Archive JIRA Projects: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/archiving-a-project-185729448.html

But it seems that you want to close a JIRA Cloud, am I right? If that is the case you can extract an XML Backup and restore it on a local instance or keep it with you for when you need, install a JIRA and restore it.
