I am trying to migrate a JIRA workflow from one instance to another and it looks like I must login as the sysadmin user to do this on a cloud account.
We seem to have lost the sysadmin password and the "reset password" requests are not coming to any of our email addresses. I assume that our atlassian account was set up under the address of one of our past developers.
How can I recover the sysadmin password?
It turns out that end users cannot log in via the sysadmin account. This is from Atlassian:
The 'System Administrator' user (with the username 'sysadmin') is an user account present on all Cloud instances. It is used by Atlassian to provide support to you and allows us to perform certain system maintenance tasks.
This user automatically has full application access but does not count towards your license limit, no matter which groups it is placed in.
The account is only used by Atlassian. You may notice logins by this user even without having raised a support request. This is because certain types of system maintenance involve our automated systems performing tasks using this account.
My goal of migrating a workflow between cloud accounts had to be done through support.atlassian.com (which I never saw any indication of in the online documentation).
I was assuming you knew that you didn't have System Administrator access, and were talking about the Confluence Admininstrators.

Nope - had no idea : ) It totally looks like a default user created by Atlassian. ..which is exactly what it is - I just didn't know we can't access it.

Yes, sometimes I fall into the day-to-day assumptions and forget to explain properly, sorry.

I have admin access, but I cannot delete some dashboards other created years ago. Why not? They are available to everyone and I don't want that due to security. Do I need some access higher than Administrator?

You'll need to contact Atlassian support if none of you have administrator access.
