How to write email messages in Jira sub directory

Tana Ghosh February 14, 2019

"To set up issue and comment creation from messages written to the file system by an external mail service, your external mail service must be able to write these messages within the import/mailsubdirectory of the JIRA home directory."

Can you please tell me how to write email messages within jira sub directory.

I have my email configured in Outlook. How can I instruct the email messages to write into Jira sub directory.

My Jira application is hosted in a different server.

This is up to whatever you have that can read and process your email.

Outlook is a mail client that reads and writes mail on mail servers.  Most of us would probably look to the mail server to be able to process incoming mail as text (and this is actually really easy with some *nix based mail services because they already store the mails as text files on the disk).

But if you only have your mail in Outlook, you will need to find or write something that can read all that mail and churn it out as files.  I have not seen anything that will do it from Outlook, but I don't spend much time on Outlook fora (as I gave it up years ago).
