Importing Sub-Tasks from CSV

Raju AD December 4, 2017

I tried to import the Sub-Tasks from CSV to JIRA  from Issues --> Import Issues from CSV, i couldn't find the "Parent Id" column in JIRA fields. where as i am able to import Sub-Tasks from System --> External System Import.

As a JIRA Admin, I have access to System, but i can't give the JIRA Admin permissions to Project Users to export the Sub-Tassks from CSV via System.

Any solution for this, Your advices are much appreciated.

JIRA never imports sub-tasks without parent (via Issues -> CSV or External System import) as that will lead to "orphaned" sub-tasks. Seems like a bug to me.

Hello @Raju AD - Both CSV importers server different purpose, one is for migrating data ( only for admin thus it includes all fields like parent id etc) other CSV import is for non-admin users and only contains sub-set of functionality and fields.

Please see this similar bug reported here about parent id
