Hi there,

Good Day!!

I would like to know how to import the data from one jira server instace to other jira server instance without affecting the changes, configuration & add-on configuration in the second jira instance. Following is the scenario explained in detailed.

Server 1: Production

Server 2: Staging

Server 1 is in use and users are using and updating their data tickets daily etc.

Server 2 is staging where JIRA team is implementing new requirements, changes, add-on configuration etc.

Scenario:
For importing data between instances we do standard XML backup from server 1 and import it in the server 2.
Main question is if we IMPORT data on the server 2, would there be a changes, add-on configuration did by the team still available or it will be wipeout or overwritten with import data from server 1?

I hope you understand my scenario..waiting for the best possible feedback on this ASAP.

Regards,
SS.

Hi @Sami Shaik

The only choice is looking at an add-on like

  1. Configuration Manager for Jira
  2. Project configurator

Both are paid add-ons that allow you to export all projects from one instance and import it to the other.

Make sure,

  1. Both Jiras are the same version
  2. All addons are the same version.
  3. All addons from source Jira is present on the destination jira instance.

Have a look at the addon Documentation for more information and please backup the destination instance before attempting a merge.

Cheers
