Is There A Way To Change The Default View so backlog is removed?

Something changed with our most recent update for Jira (v6.0#6095-sha1:601557e). There is too much on my default issue view screen regardless of which project I'm in. I want to be able to remove the backlog list from my main issue view screen. I've searched this answerbase and the answers site for info and I can't find any helpful info.
