We have jira users across the globe. Many are in India. There is no option to choose any of the major cities in India when configuring your time zone.

Is there a way to add additional cities to the dropdown e.g. New Delhi etc so users can select a more relevant city.

I can understand this is a problem for your users and this isn't something you can easily change in the sourcecode, therefore I created an improvement request on our public JIRA issue tracker: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-27804

Please let me know if I can be of any other assistance :)

It is not possible to add additional cities to JIRA's database of timezones.

Our list is based on the de facto industry standard TZ database which is used in the Java JDK as well as many operating systems etc.

You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoneinfo

The TZ database lists "Asia/Kolkata" as the canonical timezone for India.

Why the maintainers of the DB chose Kolkata over New Delhi, I don't know, but it is still a "major city in India" even if it is not the capital or the largest.
