Is it possible to have a custom text field which supports text formatting cf the Description field

Hi,

I would like to set up a custom field showing a table of actions with a column to tick when the action is complete.

The Description field supports text formatting which enable a table to be included.

The Custom text field types do not appear to support text formatting options.

Is there any way to make them do so? Or any other way to achieve the same thing?

If you are talking about the wiki markup rendering in Description field, you can do that. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Renderers

Choose wiki renderer for the text area field.
