Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding workflow customization in Jira. In one of our workflows, we use statuses like Realization, Analysis, etc. I would like to translate these into German, for example, Umsetzung and Analyse.
Is it possible to translate statuses specific to a single workflow or project without impacting others? If so, how can this be achieved?
If I want to edit the status i get the message "This status is used in other workflows, editing it will affect them." If i go to Issue --> Statuses --> I can see that thei are also used in other workflows.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi @Ivan ,
If you translate statuses, these translations will be displayed for all users who have selected this language as their main profile language. This means that they will be translated in all workflows.
You could create separate status and change the default name (or translate it) only for that one and connect it with the workflow in which you wish it to be used, but that usually isn't something Jira admin would do (as by following this approach, it could create a mess in the administration part).
Here's more info on translating administration items such as resolutions, priorities and such: Translate resolutions, priorities, statuses, and issue types
Additionally, you might want to check the following suggestion(s) related to translating config. items such as workflows: JRACLOUD-6798: Allow admins to translate items configurable in the administration section
Cheers,
Tobi
Hei @Tomislav Tobijas _Koios_ thanks for the response. So basically the suggestion is open since 2005 lol.
It seems like I have no other choice; I will create separate statuses and then simply change their names.
Thank you,
Cheers,
Ivan

Hello Ivan,
Indeed, if you try to edit an existing status, It will affect the others.
From Jira Settings> Issues> scroll down to Status, and you'll see the current status list.
The best approach for you will be to develop a German version of the workflow.
Remember, while you can add multiple workflows to a project for different issue types, each issue type can only have one associated workflow.
Hope this help you
