I was just wondering if JIRA accepts a formats other than Wiki when updating fields such as a comment. Ideally does Jira accept HTML (do they handle HTML -> Jira conversion)?

Hi Philip,
It is not recommended to enable HTML tags as that will expose you to XSS attacks. If you are sure that you want to enable it, you may do that at your own risk by following How to enable HTML in JIRA Text Fields article.
