JIRA - Slack Integration select fields

Good Day

I am currently testing out Slack and how it works for JIRA, but I am however not liking the notifications, is it possible for the notifications to contain other fields?

e.g can I add Description, Story Points, etc, instead of the current selection?

Thanks

Hey Liam,

Our official Jira Server for Slack integration currently does not allow you to customize the notifications. There are a few other integrations on the Marketplace provided by other vendors though that do allow some tweaking in what custom fields are send along.

Looks like there are currently two that allow field customization:

  • Slack Integration for Jira by Nextup.ai has a dropdown to select which style of notification you want to send in to Slack
  • Slack Connector for Jira Server by JSoftware allows you to super granularly define what's sent to Slack by actually building the JSON payload that Jira sends to it

Check these out to see if they fit your needs for all the features you're after.

Cheers,
Daniel

Do you plan to add something for this @Daniel Eads ? We would also appreciate:

* Select the fields that are send in Slack notification (as the default is now Status, Type and Assignee)

* Be able to select only specific fields that notification is triggered on - i.e. only notify when field X has been updated.

We want to use the integration to get notified when new support tickets are created or priority updated, but not when anything else updates as it creates noise.

Cheers

It would be great if this was added to the base Slack integration.

Our main use case would be adding fields to be included in the notification's "card layout" for the message shown in Slack. Adding things like Sprint & Fix Version would help developers big time as it would enable prioritizing the referenced ticket on the run (among the other work items in your plate) without the need to open the ticket details in another browser tab.

Being able to use specific fields on notification criteria would be useful too.

Yes, while I am using the ITSM template, the change request notification in Slack currently doesn't show up when is the change scheduled. It is an important information for stakeholders while they receive the notification. Please consider this feature of adding specific fields like these at least in the upcoming releases.

Hi all, I'd just like to provide an update and briefly set some expectations.

In the time since this question was originally asked, we've open-sourced the official Server (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) apps for Slack.

In order to accelerate our journey to the cloud, together, Atlassian will continue to maintain these apps' compatibility with our Server products. However, we will not be creating new features or matching feature parity with our Cloud integrations. If you would like to add your own customizations/features to the integration, we encourage you to fork the repository where the integrations are available and customize them as you wish like we’ve seen many customers do.

When Jira, Confluence, or Bitbucket Server release new versions, we will validate the compatibility of the apps and release new versions within four weeks of their public release.

Cheers,
Daniel | Atlassian Support
