JIRA permissions

Anthony Eghobor August 3, 2018

Hello, could you help by advising?. I have a user who tried to do two things in someone else's epic ticket.

1. create a sub task

2. attach an attachment.

She got permissions error saying she does not have permissions to do so. She is a member of the  <project>-users group which is then assigned to the JIRA Users role. In the permission scheme, the Users role is in the following permission schemes

PROJECT PERMISSIONS

-browse projects

-view-read-only-workflow

ISSUE PERMISSIONS

-Create Issues

-Link Issues

-Schedule Issues

COMMENTS PERMISSIONS

-Add comments

-Edit Own Comments

ATTACHMENT PERMISSIONS

-Create Attachments

TIME TRACKING PERMISSIONS

-Edit Own Worklogs

Not sure why she cannot add attachments to tickets that is nor hers and also not being able to create sub-tasks to the ticket.

Could you help me with ideas?

Thanks

Anthony

Subtasks cannot be created with an Epic as a direct parent, but you may create it as a child of any other standard issue types. Said standard issue type can belong to the epic.

Regarding attachments, there are many possible causes, including but not limited to:

  • Lack of Create Attachments permission in the project which contains the issue.
  • The file is bigger than the maximum attachment size set on your instance.
  • A workflow property prevents the user from adding attachments.
  • Network problems.
