Jira Server 7.1.9 - Gadgets broken when accessing Jira from outside the local network

Mritunjaya Sharma August 23, 2016

Hello,

Whenever we access JIRA server from outside the local network, the gadgets are broken. The titles and other fields are displayed like this : "__MSG_gadget.xxxxxx". We have not been able to find any workaround for this issue so far. Kindly help us out on this issue asap.

Thank you.

Your network is not configured to allow JIRA to talk to itself externally.

This could be routing or firewalls blocking it, but the usual culprit is that you're using SSL and you have not given the keys to JIRA to enable it to go out and back to itself.

This isn't the reality of the setup, but it helps to debug it - think of the dashboard as being another application, outside JIRA, that JIRA needs to read/write over the network.  You need to provide a route and possibly ssl keys for it to do so.
