Jira selfhosted - Checking for updates

Sebastian Just Mikkelsen September 6, 2018

Hello,

Are there any chance, you have some sort of scripts, the server can run, which checks for updates. For example, when the software have new update version available?

Hi Sebastian!

There are a few ways to get notifications of new releases for our Server products - I go over these methods in this post and this post.

The bundled healthcheck also warns you if your version is nearing its end-of-life and reminds you to upgrade.

We generally recommend reading the release notes (see the links in the first paragraph) and determining if you're ready for new features or affected by bugs which are fixed in bugfix releases. Upgrades aren't as simple as "click here to upgrade Jira" yet, so reading the notes is in your best interest. But you can definitely use a script to get the release notes delivered to you if you wish :)

Cheers,
Daniel
