Licence: DEV - PRE-PROD -PROD

Daniel Schillig January 30, 2024

Hello,

we are to set up a new Jira software environment for a customer.
The customer insists on 3 environments:
- Development
- pre-production
- production

My question:
How can we licence these environments? As far as I know, we can only derive a developer licence from a licence.
Is there a solution to this problem?

Thank you!

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You are right in that you can get a developer licence from a licence, and you can use it for both Development and Pre-production.

However, Server is going away in under 20 days (my memory is muttering "15th Feb")m and you have not been able to get new licences for it for over a year because it is going away.

If your client purchased a Server licence and it is still currently valid, then you are fine, but your question suggests they have not.

Your only options here are

  • Set them up on Data Centre instead of Server
  • Get them on to Cloud (you'll get a sandbox system if they're big enough to qualify, and probably won't need both development and pre-production)

Thank you very much!

The customer purchased Data Center licences already. So we are fine.

It is good to know that we can have the DEV and the PRE-PROD licence derived from the licence.
