Live feed from JIRA to Excel

I know this topic has been addressed, but I just cannot believe there is not an easy or free way to connect an export to Excel as a data source.  This is so relatively simple. Why can't Atlassian just provide the ODBC driver?  All I want to do is pull an export from JIRA, and whenever records change in JIRA, it will change in the spreadsheet without having to re-run an export and start from scratch each time you pull an export.
