Migrating Jira projects, custom fields, etc

DevOps

We are seeking to migrate 8 projects from one instance of JIRA to another which already has projects on itself.

Please what are the considerations / processes to copy projects and merge the final information so it covers all users/access, projects, issues etc, custom fields, workflows, etc. Worried of conflict of users on both existing instances.

Thanks.

Hello David,

We have this document with some considerations about what to do to merge two JIRA instances.

Hi David,

I believe that this documentation below will cover most of your concerns:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Restoring+a+Project+from+Backup

Basically you have to perform a project import between these instances, you just need to make sure that both instances are on the same version.

The mentioned documentation also cover the schemes and user configuration during this migration process.

Cheers,

Pedro Souza.
