Plugin Data after migration into test environment

I'm doing an XML backup of my production environment with the intent to test some new features in DEV. I understand ALL the data associated with my JIRA prod environment should be in the backup; however, what about plugin data?

After re-installation of the plugin components, should I expect it to be there? How is the plugin data captured for the migration?

If you are on Jira Server or Data Center and you store all your plugin data in the Jira database, then this data will be all restored to the new instance (most plugins do store everything in the Jira Database).
