Populate a field based on API results

fritz wesselhoft March 5, 2019

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way to handle this configuration.

We have a field named "AD group" which is part of the "Create Issue" screen, so generally the user clicks on "Create," chooses our project, and then fills up this form, including "AD groups" and "AD Owner(s)." The issue we are having is that users do not know who the owners, and even though they have the documentation to find these details, they usually enter their managers or themselves as the AD Owners, instead of the correct owners.

Therefore, to solve this issue, I'd like to have an API call that reads the "AD group" field input, and it uses that value to run a script that populates the "AD Owners" feld automatically.

Any guidance would be great, thank you in advance.

Fritz

Welcome Fritz. You'll need to give us some more information before we can help you.

Is this a question about Jira or Confluence, or one of the other Atlassian products?

Is your environment running in the Atlassian cloud, or on a server edition of the product?

Hi Doug,

We use Jira v7.10.2 server edition. In brief we are trying to accomplish the following:

1. We have a field Named: "AD Groups"

2. User input the value in # 1 field

3. A script runs, uses the input value, and populates another field with the results

Please let me know if you need any other details, thank you very much for the help.

Fritz
