Portfolio and Jira Service Desk Tips

We have been using Portfolio for our Software projects with good success.  We are not trying to add Jira Service Desk data into our plans as many of the resources on the Software projects also work on Service Desk tickets.  Does anyone have any good tips on how to set this up?  Right now our Portfolio is using the Theme and Initiative structure found on the Jira blog.
