Possible to Copy a Linked Issue's Status into a Custom Field via Post Function?

I have an odd configuration that I am trying to figure out, and I am not sure if it's possible.

In my Jira project I have 2 linked Issues, and each linked Issue has a Security Level enacted. Certain users can see one linked Issue, while other users can only see the other linked Issue (as the admin, I see both).

Is it possible to somehow copy the status of one linked Issue into a custom field of the other linked Issue? The idea is that while a user can't access the page of the linked Issue, they can always know what status the linked Issue is on.

In this project we would like the users to know which status the linked Issue is on for partial oversight. Does anyone have any ideas?
