Postgresql Driver Update

Omur Ozbahceliler June 7, 2018

Hello,

I'm upgrading our JIRA6.3 instance to JIRA7.10 shortly.

I was wondering if it is worth upgrading the default posgresql driver to PostgreSQL JDBC Driver 42.2.2. Would that be beneficial?

If it is beneficial, do I change "<database-type>postgres72</database-type>" to something else or leave it as it is? I couldn't find any specific documentation for that.

Thank you

Omur,

The database driver comes bundled automatically so you shouldn't need to upgrade it.

As Ricardo mentioned, the proper upgrade path is to 7.0* first, and then 7.10.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you Shannon,

I will leave the default driver in place.

Hi Omur,

Please also keep in mind that upgrading Jira to 7.10 from versions beneath Jira 7.0 is a major upgrade. So first upgrade to a 7.0.(...) version before going to the latest version.

Hello Ricardo,

Thank you for that. Sorry my message probably wasn't clear enough. I already took a copy of our production and upgraded it as a test environment. I have a fully functional test JIRA7.10 at the moment.
