Please never say "resolution status" when talking about Jira. They are different things, and you could easily end up with nonsense answers if someone makes the wrong assumption about which one you really mean.
Resolution is a field which has a global list of options and you should only give it a value when "closing" an issue.
I am not sure what your question is, but at a guess, it's about only allowing the users to use a limited sub-set of the resolutions you have. If you want to restrict the list of available options for it, then you can use workflow properties to limit the list.
