Hello!
We are running a JIRA cloud instance with about 40 projects defined. When we make a major change to a form, as we are currently planning, field creation is time consuming and tedious and pulls program managers away from more advanced configuration and decision-making that is required in a complex implementation.
We are interested in whether anyone has defined a way to create fields using input from CSV or other source. Is there a way to move away from manually creating simple fields? We'd like to turn the approximately 10 hours of field creation work into an hour of testing and oversight of an automated process.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Jane
Hello,
You could use JIra Rest Api:
https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/REST/7.6.1/#api/2/field-createCustomField
But you would need to write a program.
Thank you. That may be a good long-term solution. I was hoping for something lower tech in the short term, but will definitely look at this.

Hey @Jane Brooks
I am a Technical Support Engineer working with ProForma. Our plugin is great for automating forms using dynamic fields. Although it is not yet available, we are getting very close to releasing a new feature that will allow form contents and fields to be generated through external resources like CSV files, databases and API's.
If you would like to begin evaluating ProForma, you can do so for free with our fully-featured Lite version: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219499/proforma-lite-forms-checklists?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
Then, when we release the new functionality that you are looking for, you'll be ready to get started and compress your 10-hour process into a much shorter time frame.
Regards,
Lachlan
