Have been try to locate the Status column to add to the export issue list as CSV without having to export the whole bloody thing, but I can't find it in the list of columns to add, is it called something else?

My guess is that it's in the other 15 options.
I'm afraid there is not a lot you can do here. Your admins have allowed the bad practice we usually call "fielditis", and you've got too many custom fields. A recent "improvement" in Jira has made it impossible to find the main status field in that list when you've got fielditis, and the only real fix is to clean up your fields.
There is one thing that you *might* be able to do. If you revert the filter back to the defaults, then the status field is usually in there, then you can re-add the other fields you need.
