Our teams would like to have the fixVersion and other fields cleared whenever an issue is cloned. Our solution is to use the "clear field value" function provided by the jira suite utilties. This is used as a post-function on the create step. Our users have accepted the fact that the fields would be cleared for newly created issues as well as cloned issues.
This method seems to work fine for custom fields, but is not working for the FixVersion field. Is this a known limitation of the jira suite utilities function? I don't see anything in the documentation that indicates system fields are any different than custom fields when using this particular function.
The answer appears to be to move the post-function that clears the fixVersion to be prior to the standard post-function where the issue is created initially. Once this is done, the expected results are achieved.
Same here. Cannot use *Clear Field Value* post-function on Fix Version. While its use doesn't throw errors in the log, the field isn't cleared for Clone Issue either.
On a whim, tried "Copy Value From Other Field" as an alternative approach but unsuccessful, alas.
Perhaps fields with renderers won't work?

I'm going mark this answer correct because it appears that the answer is "it SHOULD work". It doesn't work, however, and there's no error in the log.

Created an account at jsutil.atlassian.netto report the problem aaaaaannnnddd... no permission to create an issue. Lovely. What's the point in running a public issue tracker if you don't let anyone create a bug report?

I have found that the Clear Field for Fix Versions doesn't work in the Create Transition of a workflow.
