Can we get whiteboard in JIRA 7.10.2?

Is there a way we can get whiteboard field in JIRA 7.10.2, which tracks the last action done on corresponding issue.

In case you want to track transitions rather than every single update on an issue, you could try Jira Workflow Toolbox feature Copy parsed text to a field. 

It enables you to write information from the issue and transition details into a field on the Jira issue. 

I have recently used it to track the entire transition history since you can insert something like {history} to keep entries and add new ones rather than overwrite what has already been added. 

Maybe it works for you...?
