I need a way to copy the Assignee and Reporter display name into a custom text field. I have tried using Post Functions but I keep on getting 'admin'.
I have been able to do this in the past but for some reason I do not seem to be able to do it anymore. Below is a screenshot of my post-function.
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.
Hi Everest,
Answering your question here as well, so this can be achieved with this Free Add-on Automation Lite for Jira . As it can be used to copy the displayName of the Reporter or Assignee field into a custom text field of Type: Text Field (single line)
Below is a configuration we set up, in order to test out this behaviour. We created a Custom field using the Text Field (single line) type and then created two Automations. one to copy the Assignee field and another to copy the Reporter field. So when we tested it on the Issue creation, using a specific JQL configured on the automation. It was able to copy the Display Name into the Custom text field. See below images for illustration.
Hope the above helps,
Cheers,
Prince
Thanks again Price, appreciate the support. Worked like clockwork.

Is admin is the Project lead for your project ? Have you set assignee to any user or group or role at create?

Hi Sreenivasaraju, the project lead is a defined user.
And the assignee (a user) is populated on creation.
