Just a heads up: On March 24, 2025, starting at 4:30pm CDT / 19:30 UTC, the site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance for a few hours. During this time, the site might be unavailable for a short while. Thanks for your patience.
×Certain Custom Fields (CF), whether they be user-created or system generated (i.e. Resolution is one that is impacted by the this issue), are not visible/do not show up in the list of CFs in any of the Field Configuration Schemes for projects.
However, I have re-named of one of the CFs and it has now appeared in the Field Configuration Scheme for the project.
This is not a situation where CFs are not being displayed, this is a situation where CFs, that can be seen/edited via the Custom Fields section under Administration, are not showing up in Field Configuration Schemes.
Also, a full re-index was performed.
Hey JD,
Strange. I suggest doing a full re-index of the instance. If this doesn't solve it, please raise a support ticket and our team can investigate it for you.
Running a manual re-index from Administration > System > Indexing

1. Are you able to see the user created custom field in <jira_url>/secure/admin/ViewCustomFields.jspa?
2. If yes, are you then able to see it in any of the field configurations on your instance at <jiral_url>/secure/admin/ViewFieldLayouts.jspa

Re #1: Yes, however the Resolution CF is not visible; not sure if it is normally visible.
Re #2: The Field Configurations are not showing any CFs that begin with the letter I/i all the way through to the CFs beginning with non-letter characters.

Re #1: That is expected behaviour. It only shows user created fields.
Re #2: You can either try troubleshooting this further by looking at the application logs, or raise a support ticket with Atlassian.

A field configuration lists all fields that can be configured. The fields may not have the right context, they may be hidden by permissions, and the screens they are on are totally irrelevant, so there's nothing that stops a configurable field appearing.
Could you show us a field configuration where you think fields are missing?

Thanks. The fields are not hidden by permissions, also it has occurred with newly created CFs. I don't think fields are missing, I know they are. There are literally dozens of CFs that are not visible in multiple Field Configuration Schemes. I can show you an example, but I'm not sure what good it will do - what are you looking for, if I might ask?

Just a view of a field configuration that seems to be missing fields. Note - not a field configuration scheme, just a single field configuration.
