Does reordering of status sequence affect the workflow sequence in any way?

Does the ordering the sequence of statuses for issues through Administration => Issues => Statuses affect workflow sequences in any way? 
I don't want to try that on a live project and learn it the hard way.

Changing the order of that list will not have any impact on your workflows. Only edits to the status themselves will impact your workflows.
