Does the .mydomain.com SSO domain filter include mydomain.com/* apps?

I'm not quite sure how to interpret the SSO documentation for configuring domains.

Are the two kinds of domain filters (.mydomain.com and mydomain.com/*) mutually exclusive, or does the first kind emcompass the second?

For environments with both kinds of domain schemes for their applications, will SSO still work as long as the Crowd admin specifies .mydomain.com?
