Just a heads up: On March 24, 2025, starting at 4:30pm CDT / 19:30 UTC, the site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance for a few hours. During this time, the site might be unavailable for a short while. Thanks for your patience.
×Hi community,
Jira offers the ability to add URLs via the "Link" functionality to issues. However, if I want to add a URL, I need to open "Link", switch to "Web Link", enter the URL, add a description manually and then commit it with a click on the "Link" button.
Nowadays linking capability is usually as simple as just a drag'n drop operation, be it creating a link on my Windows Desktop, add one to an email or put it in my bookmark list.
So far I couldn't find any word about simpler Link creation on Jira issues, but well, often you don't see the forest because of all the trees.
So does anybody know about an easier way to add a URL link to a Jira issue? By drag'n drop or by a nice hotkey or by means of an add-on?
Any answer or help is highly appreciated.
Hi Lutz,
There was a feature request regarding this functionality that was submitted here: JRASERVER-43867
However, as of March 27 2018, our team has decided not to pursue this functionality. I recommend leaving your feedback in a comment as well as voting on the request.
To see how we address feature requests please check out the following page: A renewed approach to highly voted Server suggestions for Jira and Confluence
