Editing Issue Types

Klaenyza Pritchard October 29, 2014

I want  to be able to choose from more issue types than those that currently show up in the drop down list when I log a new issue - I believe right now 4 or so show up (IT, Change, Purchase, Fault, Access). How can I edit this so that I have additional issue types to choose from.

Also, are special permissions needed to do this?

Hi Klaenyza,

You can create other issues types besides the default ones in Jira; you also can delete the current issue types you have, in case they are not suitable for your projects.

For further information in managing issue types, give a look in this KB https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Defining+Issue+Type+Field+Values

Notice that you will need to be logged as a JIRA Administrator to make the changes explained in the KB.

Regards, Teilor
