Hi @TALABIATINUKE

Natively, there isn't a method to SUM the data up to Epic level.

Your options are to...

  • Use Automation to SUM the data to Epic level
    • You could roll this data to the estimate / time tracking fields at a Story level, then roll it again up to Epic level
    • This method can be done either into the actual time fields - or, into a custom field (although it would be number-based rather than time-based)
  • Use an App to SUM the data - for example...

Let us know your thoughts on this!

Hi  @TALABIATINUKE

An app can help you view your Epics and children in a tree view with time tracking for actual and remaining estimates at each parent level.. If you open to that, do take a look at an add-on we have developed for the same use case.

Agile Tools

You can view/create your complete hierarchy in a tree view. With Roll up for Time estimates and Story Points and custom number fields at each parent level.

Hi @TALABIATINUKE

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

epic-time-tracking.gif

As you can see above, this view is fully interactive, with sum ups updating live as you enter your data. Note that this is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports - you can also view and group by any other fields, configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hello @TALABIATINUKE,

I am part of the support team of Decadis and I would like to propose a solution using our app sumUp for Jira.

It would be possible to add a gadget to one of your dashboards that sums the time spent and the original estimate of the issues under the epic including their sub-tasks with the Grouped Filter Results gadget.

Additionally, similar information could be displayed in the issue view with sumUp progress field as detailed in the use case Epic's Progress.

If you are interested in any of these approaches and need some assistance, please, let us know via our Support Portal or in this thread.

Best regards,

Vicente

Hi @TALABIATINUKE

All times was logged on epics or on stories inside epics?

By default what you can do is to filter issues, export it to xls and make calculation there.

You can also use timesheet add-ons (e.g. tempo) to calculate it easily in jira.

Regards,

Seba

Thank you Sebastian. All times were logged on  the sub task in the user stories

Not sure we have the timesheet add-ons

and hoping there could be an automated way to achieve this
