How to avoid to have to reconfigure memory settings everytime I upgrade Jira?

Rodrigo Gómez August 31, 2018

I have a Jira Software installation on a Windows 2016 machine as a service.

Everytime I upgrade Jira the memory settings I have configured are reset to the default values, which, strangely enough, Jira says when accessing it for the first time are too low.

I usually modify the settings using the

    tomcat8w.exe //ES//JIRA<installation>

method.

I don't know if there is another config file I need to modify that is used to set the default values when reinstalling? It's strange that Jira complains the settings are too low when the installer is the one setting them, so maybe there are some values somewhere that need to be changed.

Thanks!

Hey, Rodrigo.

If starting Jira as service on Windows, unfortunately, there's no option besides adding the arguments each time you upgrade, as Jira will create a new service for every upgrade.

You can set the arguments in the "setenv.bat" file to persist the configuration through an upgrade, but that would require you to run Jira from there and not as a service.

Check the page for increasing memory on Jira.

Kind regards,
