We have a project with four major lines of effort, each we made into an Epic. We also have a handfull of tasks under each of these Epics, that we just built at the Project level.

We now want to move these tasks (with their subtasks) into their appropriate Epics, and then list them on a sprint board for execution by the team. The Epics will not be sprintable as they are for the project as a whole. But, the Tasks are sprintable in one month sprints, and the subtasks as weekly goals.

I can't find a simple way to do this, without having to rebuild all the Tasks and their Subtasks under the Epics.

Any guidance on this?

Hi Ralph,

You can bulk edit each of these tasks and update the Epic link - this will move the selected tasks (and related sub-tasks) under the specified Epic. It's quick and simple. Keep in mind that the sub-tasks will move automatically with the tasks, so you don't need to worry about those at all.

You will want to use the bulk edit operation (instructions here).

I think that completely answers your question. Unless you were also asking for the best way to plan and execute sprints within Jira?
