Hi everyone,
we do have a large set of Asset objects. And especially one object type, which has more than 600k objects in it.
It often happens, that multiple objects need to be selected in the Jira issue create screens. At the moment, we are left with manually adding each object by typing and clicking on the result. This takes multiple seconds per objects, which therefore sums up to a long running task if about 50 need to be added.
Is there a way to input the Asset custom fields with data so that the values will be selected at once? Or any other alternative that you can imagine?
Unfortunately, due to the large amount of objects, we can not even use the magnifier icon dialog. This dialog simply does not return anything (probably because it tries to render all the objects for some reason).
Hoping for good ideas from your side!
Thanks for your help!
Stefan
At the moment, we are running on Server, but switching to DataCenter (hopefully soon).
Cloud is not an option at the moment.
Is there any difference between Server and DC related to this function?
Thanks!

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields - including any Assets fields - much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also allows bulk editing via copy/paste - within JXL, but also between JXL and pretty much any other tool, including Excel or Google Sheets.
This is how it looks in action (Inventory is an assets fields):
Depending on your exact use case, I feel this may make it significantly easier for your to associate large numbers of assets with issues.
Since you've tagged your question for Jira Server: As you may have heard, Atlassian's support for Jira Server will end soon. Are you planning to migrate to Data Center or Cloud? I'd strongly recommend that. If you need some more time, JXL is perfectly compatible with Jira Server; it's just that we need to generate a license for you. If the above looks interesting, just let me know, and I'll happily start a free trial for you.
Best,
Hannes
