Hi,
Our connection pool graph shows that idle connections are constantly at a maximum (20). Is this a problem?
We have tried disabling unnecessary add-ons but this doesn't seem to have affected the graph.
We're wondering if this is something we need to worry about, or if it is normal.
Thanks,
Lisa
I tried increasing the maximum number of connections in the connection pool of our sandbox instance. At first I tried to increase it to 30 but it was still maxed out. I then tried 100 which was also maxed out. I then set it to 500 and it looked like it levelled off at around 200. So, I then reduced it to 250 to keep it at a lower maximum.
I’m not sure what this means – 250 seems a lot higher than the default of 20. Do you think increasing it to 250 in live would be OK? Or is there some other problem I need to address?
I also tried disabling and uninstalling any unnecessary add-ons.
Hi Lisa. Sorry for the delay. If you still are seeing performance issues in JIRA I believe the best approach is open a ticket on support (https://support.atlassian.com), so you can share your logs files to a more specific analyses. Regards, Teilor

Thank you for your reply. We do have performance issues in JIRA. They are usually fixed with a reboot, but we would like to solve the underlying problem. I think we will try to increase the maximum connections available in the pool as you have suggested.

As far this is not exactly a problem if you are not seeing any performance issues in Jira, in this case is recommended to you to raise the maximum connections available in the pool.
You can find further information on tuning your database connections in this link https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Tuning+Database+Connections
If your JIRA installation is running slow, may be necessary do some tests with the database access speed, like the ones listed in this link https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Testing+Database+Access+Speed
Cheers!
