Hi,
I am trying to configure a Kanban board in Jira.
Issue is, the owner left the company and is no longer here.
For the project, I am an admin with all rights, but we cannot get this Kanban board within this project to be modified at all. Is there anything that can be done?
Thanks!
Hi, you can install the free app:
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.tngtech.jira.plugins.schizophrenia/server/overview
Then in user mode, in a dashboard e.g, you press "x" twice ("xx").
Switch to the current board administrator user.
Add your user to the board Administrators
"xx" again and switch back to your user.
Then you will be able to edit the board...
Try this--
Make your Inactive User active again. Then change the Filter Ownership. Then remove the 'inactive user' from the Board Administrator list. Then change 'inactive' user back to inactive.

Hi,
I have permission for admin/developer/project access/project admin/project team and users for this particular project.
I am wondering if I need to be the project lead as well.

If you are specifically wanted to administrate a Kanban board, you need to look at two different things.
First if you look at the "Manage Boards" list under the board's menu (or the Agile dropdown for much older versions of JIRA with the agile plugin) you can see the board's Administrator. You can then attempt to change this by click on the "..." and choosing configure. Then you should be able to click on the name next to Administrators and then remove the user there and add additional users.
Secondly, if the Kanban board was set up using a shared filter that was created by the inactive user, you will need to take ownership of that shared filter. You can do this by logging in with a JIRA administrator and going into the System Administration drop down (the gear in the top right) and choose System from the drop down. In the menu of the left hand side, there is a "Shared Filters" option from the "Shared Items" section. Choosing this will show all the shared filters in the system. To the right of the shared filter you wish to take ownership of, click on the gear and choose "Change Owner" and you can change the owner to your account. This will allow you to change the filter if you need to make changes to this item that the board is using.

Have you looked at the projects Permission Scheme? Even a JIRA Administrator has to have access to a specific permission with a group setting. That or place your account name in the existing group that is granted the permission.
