Is Jira icalendar plugin superceded?

Is the icalendar plugin still being worked on?

Or did a particular version of JIRA or Team Calendars supercede this functionality already?

Asking because the plugin links only point to the versions page and the documentation is all missing.

When I try https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/projects/JICAL the last update was in Jul 2014.

Yes, the plugin still exist and it is being maintained. As it is a bundled plugin (it comes with the default JIRA installation) it is no longer listed in the Marketplace. The plugin should be functional with the latest version of JIRA.

Thanks for the information @Alejandro Conde Carrillo but I have a follow-up question. We upgraded to JIRA version 7.1.1 a few months ago and this plugin still shows up under Manage Add-ons flagged as Incompatible. The notes say "This add-on is not compatible with your JIRA instance. Request an update from the vendor." so my question is should we ignore this message?

I was going to uninstall the plugin on the advice of my colleague who did the 7.1.1 upgrade and told me this plugin was deprecated but after reading your notes I am not so sure about that now.

Ditto, just upgraded to 7.1.7 and on Manage Add-ons flagged as incompatible with no new one available. How to make 'Jira' Team Calendars work from Confluence?

Despite being told by Atlassian Support via a support case that I could uninstall this plugin on my JIRA 7.1.1 system it appears that maybe doing that has caused Confluence to not be able to read event data from JIRA. The Confluence web UI shows this error to users "We can't load events in ProjectX - Releases: . Check your connection to JIRA." and the atlassian-confluence.log file shows the error below; I will be opening a new support case for this but wanted to warn others to be careful in case removing the iCal plugin is in fact the root cause.

Apparently version 1.4.7 that is listed on the marketplace site is not compatible with JIRA 7.1,4

Where is the FIX? We've been without our link from Confluence Team Calendar to JIRA for a long time because of this. I just upgraded to JIRA 7.1.9 and iCal 1.4.7 because I thought it'd fix the problem, but JIRA still says 1.4.7 is incompatible, and Confluence returns a 500 error when I try and add JIRA Sprints to our calendar.

My understanding is that the iCalendar functionality was rolled into the base product so you don't need the old third-party add-on to make it work. That being said the base product after upgrading should have a JIRA Calendar Plugin listed in the add-ons section but it shouldn't have to be installed separately from what I understood.

In my case the upgrade to 7.x somewhow failed to upgrade the calendar files properly which is why Support gave me a specific file to install.

I've apparently done enough actions that it's working again. I restarted JIRA and Confluence a couple of times and reset the application links between JIRA and Confluence, and it started working. Since the functionality is supposed to be embedded in Core, I suppose I can remove the iCal plugin?

The iCalendar functionality was rolled into the core product so it is now in the JIRA iCalendar Plugin version 1.4.5. I worked with two different Support agents for my problem recently (case GHS-46340), one from the Confluence team and then one from the JIRA team. There are two add-ons required: the user-installed add-on JIRA Calendar Plugin (v4.0.3) and system add-on JIRA iCalendar Plugin (v 1.4.5).

Apparently our upgrade to version 7.1.1 did not upgrade the iCalendar plugin so Support provided me a jar file to load via the add-on manager. It installed in the disabled state so I had to manually enable it and that seems to have resolved my particular issue.
