Is there a limit to how many issues you can have linked to one another?

Would I have a problem if I had 5k issues linked to one issue for example?

as of now there is no limit to link issue, if this option should be there in jira then vote up here

i don't think it will be good to have 5k issue linked to one issue and i am not sure why so many issues need to link it to one issue

We use a JIRA project to house our development projects, so each issue in that JIRA project is a development project. Each issue will have a project number. Currently there are thousands of these active projects across our enterprise.

I would say there is a limit
I have a test system JIRA 7.3.1
I just found a ticket with over 38,000 Issue Links (affected by workflow)
This ticket is now experincing extreme issues,
Just opening the issue within Internet Explorer affected my local windows system to use over 1.5GB of memory before losing connection with the JIRA system
I am still attempting to delete the issue and remove the links.
