Is there a way to change a group name?

Is there a way to change an existing group name? If not in the UI, are there tables that could be updated directly in the database?

It seems that feature has been outstanding for almost 10 years: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1391

The link there will, however, show you that with some JIRA downtime and an SQL script, groups can be renamed.

The groups are stored in the cwd_group table.
