Is there any way (workaround) to bulk move sub-tasks to another parent issue?

On large work tasks, need to be able to move 20+ sub tasks to a new parent. It is not possible to do this OOTB (refer https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-21470).

Any workaround for this?

Could you clone the original and change the name of the new parent?

I am afraid that this is not really a solution for us. We use quite sophisticated ways to create our issues automatically and we don't want our users to mess around with manually cloning / renaming issues. We need to be able to move / copy multiple subtasks to a entirely distinct parent...
