So I was looking today at JIRA Administrator certification, and I took the sample exam. However I was really surprised when I got the question about permissions needed to move issue:

Somehow the test suggests that you need "Browse" permission in the target project to successfully move issue to this project. In my opinion this is wrong. "Create issue" permission is all you node to MOVE the issue. "Browse" only allows you to view the issue after moving, but that is not what the question was about.

I verified my claims:

* created one new user - "Sisyphus"
* created two blank projects: "Downhill" (DO) and "Uphill" (UP)
* created one permission scheme
** grant all permissions to "admin" project role + grant create issue permission to any logged in user
* attached the permission scheme to both Downhill and Uphill projects
* added Sisyphus user to "admin" role in Downhill project
* made sure that Sisyphus has no roles nor groups that would grant him any permissions in the "Uphill" project - he should have only "create issues"
permission because he is logged in
* logged in as the Sisyphus
* created DO-1 issue
* moved the issue to UPHILL
* Bam! DO-1 disappeared, and I got redirected to the UP-1 issue. I cannot view it as Sisyphus, but it definitely moved!

Honestly I got a bit discouraged about taking the certification exam if one of the example questions have incorrect answer promoted by Atlassian. I'm simply afraid that there will be more such questions in the real exam.
@[deleted]: What will happen if I will stumble upon such questions during real exam? Can I review questions and answers after the test? Will my score get adjusted if I will prove afterwards that particular promoted answer was wrong?

Hmm.  I remember this question being written in the first round of question writing, and I think I know who wrote it.

The text of it has been changed since we passed it through peer review (possibly by the non-expert reviews on simplifying language, which seems to have broken a number of questions).

The text of the question used to be something like "move a single issue to the uphill project and continue working on it".  The clause that makes "browse" the other correct answer has vanished.

I've got some more concerns about some of the questions I've seen on badge and full exams, you're not alone.  I'll ask the certification teams about it, and ask them to get back to you on the "wrong question" thing

Nic, that's a very detailed explanation of the mentioned case and a really satisfactory answer, thanks!

Questions appearing in the Certification exams undergo layers of scrutiny and analysis that sample questions do not.  For this reason, it is rare to find a problem in an actual scored exam question.  During the exam, test takers can Comment on questions they think might have problems; all Comment are read, but they might not be read right away.  For any immediate concern that a potential problem might have affected your pass/fail status, submit an issue to https://getsupport.atlassian.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/9.   You'll need to remember enough detail for Atlassian to be able to identify the question you have concerns about.  Exams also contain unscored questions; this is standard practice, and allows Atlassian to gather data and Comments from test takers.  Unscored questions are only partway through their journey of analysis and QA; they do not affect your score.

Thanks Julia!

I also seem to remember this question was one we were not very happy with in peer review, because of exactly this "browse is not the same as create" quirk.

I noticed this as well.  I was starting to question myself.  Thanks for posting!

The sample questions have been refreshed and this problematic one has been removed.
