JIRA server backup options on AWS

We're considering moving JIRA to AWS and IT has requested I look into backup options. 
So I'm looking for suggestions for backing JIRA and the database up in AWS.

We recommend you use the built-in facility in AWS to backup Jira:

Backing up

We recommend you use the AWS native backup facility, which utilizes snapshots to back up your JIRA Data Center.
