Kanban board not populating tickets correctly after using sub-filter

Zita Major April 23, 2024

Hi,

We just had a release and released the items on our jira board. First all tickets were shown on the board.

If I use the subfilter: fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() OR fixVersion is EMPTY - > it still shows all the "released tickets" and everything else

If I use the subfilter: fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() -> the "released" tickets are gone form the board, but I am missing all the other ones as well

The goal is to see the tickets in not released versions and also tickets without fixversion. I am not sure what am I missing...

Please advise!

Thank you!

Hello @Zita Major

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

For each of the subfilter scenarios you have described can you...?

- Show us a screen image of the board, pointing out an issue that is present that you think should be excluded.

- Show us a screen image of the details of those issues, including the information in the Fix Version field.

- Show us screen images of the details of issue(s) that are missing from the board that you think should be present on the board, including the information in the Fix Versions field.

- Provide a screen image from the Releases page showing the Status of every Version referenced in the Fix Version fields of the above issues.

For each set of images, let us know which subfilter is active.

sub-filter: fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() OR fixVersion is EMPTY

As you can see below R3 tickets are still on the board:

And R3 is released:

In case I simply use: fixVersion in unreleasedVersions()

The R3 items disappear but of course the tickets without fixversion are not on the board. In our case it would be crucial to include both tickets with fixversion or no fixversion.

Thank you for your help on this!

It appears that your board swimlanes is set to Stories, which implies that VERGLB-61 has subtasks. Is that correct?

If it is, what are the fix version values in the subtasks?

All issue types are included based on the board filter. When you use Stories as the Swimlanes, then if there are Subtasks to be displayed on the board a swimlane based on the parent Story will be shown, even if the parent Story itself is hidden by the subfilter.

If there are no subtasks to display then the parent issue will not be shown as a swimlane. It might show in the Everything Else lane at the bottom if the parent issue itself is not excluded by the subfilter.

If you turn off the swimlanes then do you get exactly the cards you expect displayed?

I do not know why I haven't thought about this earlier... You are absolutely right! The sub-tasks were not marked for the given release. Matching them with the parent stories, I have the board cleaned up from released items.

Thank you for your quick response!
